Dr. Sinan Ozgur evaluated how Turkey could assess and take away some best practices from Germany related to advanced Industry 4.0 (I4.0) technologies. Led by Germany’s government, Industry 4.0 is a strategic step towards improving competitiveness in the industrial market. Besides, market development, internationalization, production efficiency, flexible production through technological developments, and the power of increasing competition are other reasons I4.0 occurred. To create growth, firms need to be producing more by creating more productivity and flexibility.
Based on collected research data through personal interviews of subject matter experts, competition has forced firms to change and improve their products and services; that is why they have to apply all available technology trends in their companies; otherwise, they believe that they cannot fulfill the customers’ requirement and stay competitive. Closing the distance from product manufacturers to customers and reaching manufacturing cost advantage with the fourth manufacturing revolution will create more employment, productivity, and growth.
The significant finding in this research is that I4.0 technologies are beneficial for the industries. Firms that have implemented I4.0 compete better in the global market, increase productivity, and maintain sustainability due to I4.0 technologies. This research allows practical findings to recommend how firms can leverage the industry 4.0 technologies to improve performance. This study demonstrates that I4.0 contributes to economic growth and productivity. Implementing I4.0 technologies improve firms’ performance and productivity by using new automation and digital technologies.
This research is eye-opening for many researchers to gain a new idea about industry 4.0 trends with a comparative analysis between Germany and Turkey.
