Dr. Danilo R. Marcucci

Minister Plenipotentiary, Guatemalan Diplomatic Service

Dr. Rodriguez Marcucci began his diplomatic career in 1997 when he was appointed Third Secretary and Vice Consul General Consulate of Guatemala in Germany. In 1998 he was transferred to the Embassy of Guatemala in London, United Kingdom, where he held the positions of First Secretary and Consul, and Minister Counselor until 2005. In London, he was also appointed Alternate Permanent Representative to the International Maritime Organization (IMO), the International Coffee Organization (ICO) and the International Sugar Organization (ISAO).

In 2007 he was appointed as First Secretary and Consul with functions of Minister Counselor at the Embassy of Guatemala in Cairo, Egypt. From 2011 he served as Chargé d'Affaires a.i., during this period he prepared reports of events of the "Arab Spring", particularly the "Egyptian Revolution" of 2011; processes and development, which were useful to the Permanent Mission of Guatemala to the United Nations, during the stage of Guatemala as a Non-Permanent Member of the Security Council 2012-2013.

In the last quarter of 2012 he was appointed Chargé d'Affaires Embassy of Guatemala in Paris, France and Representative of Guatemala to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). In 2013 he went on to fulfill the important commission to open the Embassy of Guatemala in New Delhi, India and was the Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy until 2014.

At the beginning of 2017 he returned from New Delhi to assume the head of the Directorate of International Economic Policy in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in the last quarter of 2017 until April 2019, he became part of the Consulate General of Guatemala in Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas, Mexico, an experience that allowed him to address the painful reality of the Guatemalan migrant; the risks, difficulties, abuses and mishaps that Guatemalan nationals go through. From the end 2020 to middle of 2023, he has worked on this doctorate dissertation.
