Libère Bukobero

Libère Bukobero is a manager and a leader, currently holding the position of the General Secretary the Appui au Développement Intégral et à la Solidarité sur les Collines (ADISCO, www.adisco.org), one of the well-rated nonprofit organizations in Burundi. He graduated as an agricultural engineer from the Public University of Burundi in 1999, specializing in crop protection. As a keen researcher in the field, he actively embarked on the protection of the environment by encouraging farmers to use pesticides only when strictly necessary while testing and promoting organic and composts systems.

Since 2003, Libère has taken an active approach toward socioeconomic reintegration of farmers through advancing sustainable development programming respectively in the Catholic Diocesan Solidarité pour la Promotion de l’Assistance et du Développement of Ruyigi (SOPRAD) then in the Appui au Développement Intégral et à la Solidarité sur les Collines (ADISCO, www.adisco.org), where he continued to support rural communities in the endogenous development with integrated family farms, cooperatives, and peasantry-led socioeconomic movement. Libère founds his personality on strong moral values inspired by the principles of social and solidarity-based economy, including democracy, cooperation, and self-management.

The promotion of holistic human wellbeing is at the heart his work and responsibility through diversity through non-discrimination, neutrality, from all points of view, emancipation, local knowledge, continuous learning, social justice, and consideration of the environmental dimension. Currently, Libère is the National Secretary of ADISCO. He has contributed to group studies published in La Revue Electronique en Sciences de l’Environnement.
