Gervais Harerimana

Gervais Harerimana is an Aviation Engineer with seven years of experience in civil aviation in the field of aircraft safety. In 2013, he completed a master’s degree in aircraft and engine operation with Great honors from the Varonezh Military Aviation Academy in Russia. Professionally, Major Gervais occupies the Aircraft Airworthiness Inspector at the Civil Aviation Authority of Burundi (AACB) since January 2022 to date. Under this role, certification/supervision of aircraft operators and approved maintenance organizations (AMOs) and maintenance of the registration register are all part of his responsibilities. Before joining the AACB, Major Gervais had held different positions in the Burundi Air Force as trainee aircraft safety inspector (Jan 2017-Dec 2021), maintenance flight commander (Jan 2015-Jan 2017), and planning officer at Mogadishu International Airport for the AMISOM.

- • February 2022: Training on operational specifications related to the Air Operator Certificate (AOC) in Kampala, Uganda

- • July 2021: Safety problem solving course in Zanzibar, Tanzania

- • November - December 2017: Inspection of foreign aircraft at SAFA in Entebbe

- • June - July 2017: GSI-AIR (ICAO Government Safety Inspector Safety) in Nairobi
Major Gervais considers his personal engagement in BMIL to be an important framework for speaking to both university and industry as co-responsible for building healthy and sustainable institutions and flourishing communities free from hunger and starvation.
He is also looking at BMIL as an instrument for rebuilding confidence and mutual trust among academic and industry communities. He is fluent in French, English, and Russian.
