Issayas Tesfamariam is the head of Hoover's Library and Archive's microfilming and is a language professor at Stanford University. He has taught classes for the Stanford community, utilizes the collections at the Hoover Institute, and serves as a language instructor at Stanford University, teaching Amharic and Tigrinya in the African and Middle Eastern Languages Department. His textbook, “Let’s Speak Tigrinya,” is used in university classrooms worldwide. Despite a busy schedule, Issayas remains involved in cultural and political affairs in Africa and played a crucial role in establishing the national archives in his native country, Eritrea. Furthermore, he founded an Eritrean film workshop that nurtures promising young filmmakers. Issayas Tesfamariam was part of the organizing team for the Tigrinya Language Digital Initiatives Symposium. The symposium aimed to promote and advance digital initiatives related to the Tigrinya language.
